David Long was born and raised in Massachusetts, educated at Pomfret School [CT] and Albion College [MI], came West in 1972, studied with Richard Hugo, Bill Kittredge and Madeline DeFrees at the University of Montana. He lived in Kalispell, MT, until 1999, when he relocated to Tacoma, WA.
He is married to medical librarian Susan Schweinsberg Long. They have two grown sons, Montana and Jackson.
